Bite Size Brain Snack

If you believe in yourself, have dedication and pride and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards. - Paul "Bear" Bryant

This is a great quote from a famous coach - one that my son-in-law admires very much. It's true to the point that it takes an amount of confidence in yourself to be able to make substantial changes in your life. The older you get the harder it is. I know some folks who have done it. I've watched them turn around and go in a completely different direction after years of established habits and patterns.

I would like to add, however, that those who have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, have the advantage of drawing on His very power, even when they are desperately weak, to continue to integrate those changes into their body (new ways of acting), their mind (it all starts with new thoughts) and their spirit (where the lasting motivation lives).

For You are my hope, Lord GOD , my confidence from my youth.
Psalm 71:4-6

When you pray, it is better to have a heart without words, than words without heart.

If you have a positive attitude and constantly strive to give your best effort, eventually you will overcome your immediate problems and find you are ready for greater challenges. - Pat Riley

New Meaning to Fun

Work is called work
or else it'd be fun.
But sometimes work done
Can feel like fun.

Am I all alone
in this strange phenomenon?
When work involves people
Fun is really what's done.

Work by itself
Is just something you do.
Work that's turned fun
Is a people hullaballoo!

So love what you do
and work if you can,
To live in the moment
With the people at hand.

Bite Size Brain Snack for the New Year

We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential." - Ellen Goodman

Bite Size Brain Snack

Every so often our brains just need a little kick in the pants. I thoughtful diversion from the mindless drone of what runs through our brains in the course of the day. My Bite Size Brain Snacks are meant to do just that. Someday I'll share where the term came from.

A bite size brain snack is a little something to capture your attention and make you think - kind of like the old "thought for the day".

There are three most important things to learn in life - to teach to your children - and to practice.

1. To be kind

2. To be kind

3. To be kind

Life is not as complicated as we've made it to be.

"You'll never get anywhere you're not headed."

Think about this one....it's true to almost every area of life you can apply it to. Work, relationships, you name it.

Thanks, JJ, for sharing this with me.

Bite Size Brain Snack

Great occasions do not make heroes or cowards; they simply unveil them to the eyes of men. Silently and imperceptibly, as we wake or sleep, we grow strong or weak; and at last some crisis shows what we have become.

"We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turn back soonest is the most progressive man."

One of my favorites

"You only truly believe that which activates you."

I'm interested in your thoughts on this. Agree? Why or why not?
To what beliefs do you think it applies? And why?
What is a specific belief that has activated you?

Chew on this one...

"The absence of opportunity is not necessarily the presence of virtue."

Agree or disagree? Let me hear from you.
